Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys are based on a fictional foursome that consists of four turtle mutants who live underground in the sewers of Manhattan and are trained by their teacher (sensei) Master Splinter to become accomplished Ninja warriors. These turtles who first featured in a series of comic books published by Mirage Studios in 1984, battle criminals and alien invaders from their underground home without interacting with society at large.

The main characters that feature in the series are Leonardo or the turtle who wears a blue mask and is the leader of the group, Raphael or the turtle who wears the red mask is the rebellious bad boy turtle who is also intensely loyal to his brother and sisters, Michelangelo wears the orange mask and is the easy going, free spirited turtle and Donatello who wears the purple mask is the most intelligent turtle who prefers to use his intellect to win his battles.

The four main characters are joined by the Master Splinter or the teacher of the turtles which is a mutant rat, April O' Neil who is the human companion of the turtles and Casey Jones another human figure who is a vigilante and a close associate of the turtles. Another human character is Shredder who is the leader of the Foot Clan and the arch enemy of Splinter and the Turtles. These characters have proved to be so popular that apart from comic books they have inspired a range of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toys along with video games, arcade games, cartoons, several TV series and four movies. There are also other Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles products available on the market like birthday party supplies, clothing and costumes.

After the broadcast of the 1987 TV series, Playmate Toys, a Hong Kong based company went on to produce a line of action toys that were based on these turtles and these Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Toys went on to be the most successful toy brand in history.

Playmates produced these toys through the years and introduced new action toys after the release of the latest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Movie in April 2007. Some of these new toys include action figures of the turtles and their weapons, a piece of platform, a can of ooze and two alternate hands etc. Many of these toys have up to twenty points of articulation.
