Spiderman Toys

Toy Fare magazine, a monthly magazine on the toy industry, which tracks collectible action figures and toys has estimated that more action figures of Spider man have been released than any other action hero character except Batman. The first Spider man toy was released in 1966. This action figure which was called Captain Action, is a 12 inch tall figure which is now considered to be a valuable collectible as there are only a few boxed originals still available. Toy Fare estimates these Spider man toys to be the most valuable action figures and says they are worth upwards of $15000.

Toy Biz, the toy division of Marvel Entertainment began producing Spider man toys which were based on the 1990's Spider man series that was shown on Fox Television. Toy Biz launched line of toys called Spider man classics which featured the masked web crawler and his famous foe, Venom. These toys had nearly 30 points of articulation and were also extremely pose able. These figures were followed by figures of Daredevil and Rhino who also featured in the Fox TV series. Toy Biz has also produced additional Spider man toys in its Spider man movies line and Marvel Legends line. Numerous other Spider man toys have been produced over the years including the Spider man Secret Wars line from Mattel.

In addition to these Spider man toys there are many computer and video games all of which feature the masked web crawler and these have been released for over 15 different gaming platforms. Traditionally popular games like Monopoly, chess and pinball also have Spider man editions and Spider man cards have been introduced for both Overpower and VS System card games.
