The origin of Lego Toys can be traced to the workshop of Ole Kirk Christiansen, a carpenter who lived in the town of Billund in Denmark in the late 1930's. Christiansen had began creating his wooden toys which were in the form of wood blocks in 1932 which he later began to sell under the brand name of Lego. The company then began to produce plastic toys in 1940 and in 1949; it launched its now famous interlocking plastic building blocks.
