Digital Photo Frames

A digital photo frame is a device which is shaped like an ordinary photo frame but it is different from an ordinary photo frame in the sense that these digital photo frames are capable of displaying digital photos without actually printing them. Moreover digital photo frames do not even need to be hooked up to a computer in order to display these photos. Digital photo frames offer those who don’t like using a computer or those who don’t have a computer a medium to view digital photographs which are taken by a digital camera and stored on the memory card of the camera or a USB flash drive. Once you insert on these storage media into the appropriate slot on your digital photo frame you are ready to start viewing your pictures.

Digital photo frames display these photos usually in the form of slide show and allow you to adjust the time interval for the display. Many of them like the Kodak EasyShare M1020 10-Inch Digital Frame also allow you to choose and select the pictures that you want displayed by allowing you to copy delete and even print the photos once you have inserted your memory card into the SD slot. This particular digital photo frame comes equipped with 128 MB of internal memory and displays your photos in HD format. Companies like Kodak, Sony, Philips, and Panasonic all make several models of digital photo frames which are available at different price points. Some digital photo frames are even capable of playing movies or video clips that are recorded in a digital camera's movie or MPEG mode while yet others allow you to play MP3 tracks as well.

There are some digital photo frames which come with a web based service which enable the user to download photos from a website by directly connecting to the internet in order to do so. Cevia is one such digital photo frame and service which allows you to download photos that you friends and family have uploaded on to the Cevia website. The Cevia digital photo frame is connected to a phone line through which it connects to the internet for the main purpose of downloading photos into the frame. You cannot use this service for email or Web surfing and it has a monthly charge of $50.

16:9 while older models use the TV aspect ratio of 4:3.

The Style of the Frame

This is a subjective concept inline with your decorating sensibilities.

Memory Cards and USB ports

Most digital photo frames are compatible with the commonly used media storage devices like SD cards, memory cards, flash drives. Do find one which is compatible with the storage device that you use to store your digital pictures.

Rechargeable batteries

Though most digital photo frames use the AC power outlet some come equipped with rechargeable batteries.
