Coffee Machines

A coffee machine is an appliance which is used to brew a perfect cup of 'joe'(coffee) which many people consider essential in order to jumpstart their day. A coffee machine eliminates the need to boil water in as separate container in order to make a cup of coffee. There are a number of coffee machines available today which use many different brewing principles to brew a good cup of coffee.

In most of these devices however the coffee grounds are placed in a paper or metal filter which is then placed over a glass or a ceramic coffee pot. Cold water is then poured into a separate chamber which is heated to boiling point and channeled into the said funnel. This is the most common process of brewing coffee and coffee brewed in this manner is known as' drip coffee'.

When you set out to buy a coffee machine, in order not to get overwhelmed and confused by the large number of brands and models that are available in the market, you should first decide the kind of coffee machine that you wish to buy. This however depends on the type of coffee that you like and wish to prepare at home.

A standard coffee machine is ideal for those people who usually like a weaker brew and this kind of machine is quite adequate for flavored beans as well. A semi automatic machine is a good first coffee machine for you to invest in if you have never bought a coffee machine before and are not very fussy about the strength of your coffee. These machines are generally quite inexpensive as well. Many of these however require you to grind the coffee beans yourself and to stop the brewing process manually as well.

Automatic machines are a step up from semi-automatic machines and require you to fill the portafilter with ground beans and depending on the type of coffee you are making the machine does the rest. Many automatic coffee machines also have the facility to grind your coffee beans. These machines are of various types and they are capable of making specialty drinks like espressos, lattés and cappuccinos as well. Many of them also come with milk steamer attachment for this purpose. These machines are generally more sophisticated and more expensive than the semi automatic machines.

However the most expensive coffee machines are the super automatic coffee machines which just require you to add beans into them. The machines then grind the beans and transport them to the filter as they brew your special cup of coffee. These coffee machines can be usually programmed with customized setting for strength and texture of the beans and the temperature and quantity of the water level as well. Companies like Delonghi, Russell Hobbs, Morphy Richards, Krups, Braun, Philips, Gaggia etc all make various different types of coffee machines that are available in the market today.
